We try to keep the chat clean, as to not discourage new players who log in for the first time. We know everyone on this game is generally 20+ years old. But that doesnt mean they enjoy seeing negative stuff. Keeping global as positive and clean as possible is one of the concerns when it comes to new players.

Yeah, it wasnt added very long ago. 3 months ago maybe? Certain words are definitely used more often than others, and i think those were the words added when the censor was first implemented. Feel free to PM me a list of words and ill bring it up to n0m and Billy and have them added to the list. Ill also ask them to maybe add a few more words in the mean time.

We appreciate your concern, and player input is always taken into consideration.

If you ask me there should be a way to turn off the filter. But add or stuff to it as well.

Weve looked into new players and especially the ones who registered, logged in,  then logged out and haven't played again. We look through chat history in those times and there is a lot of stuff that some people just really dont care to see. Which is why we have to ask on to many occasions for flaming be taken to ::2. We want this server to keep growing, and sometimes we have to take measures to make it more friendly. If that means censoring 15 players because they think they should be allowed to be as mean and nasty to everyone because of our age, then so be it.

This video is the equivalent of ::1. Thank you for being understanding.

Seriously though it's not that people are "sensitive and weak" or can't handle certain words 90% of the time....the problem is that if a new player comes on the game and sees nothing but stupidity on global chat they're not going to be as inclined to play.

It's all about the first IMPRESSION. I for one want to see a reasonably mature group of players when I start a new server. Wilderness shit talking is fine and expected, but when you have people repeatedly saying the most awful, crude, most senseless things in a failed attempt to be funny, it really does give off a negative aura and will turn new players away. Nobody wants to be surrounded by jackasses in real life, they will instead fine a more suitable group of people to be around. Same thing applies to a MMORPG...and is even more importantly critical in a small MORPG like a private server.

Bottom line, Grow the fk up and act your age. Quit writing dumb BS on global. You can shit talk people in the wilderness, but be intelligent about it. Throw 'em an insult with some wit behind it instead of emotional whiny stupidity. That's what turns new players away.

Maybe we can remove it from ::2, but a censor will remain on ::1
