I completed the Mage Arena and prayed to Guthix. Got the Cape but left without talking to the guys to get the staff.

When I return and talk to them, they tell me that I haven't prayed yet. In short, I cannot get the guthix staff.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Try picking up another cape, then talk to him. If I remember correctly, you can actually grab a Guthix cape and a Saradomin or Zamorak cape. See if that fixes your problem.

Are you entering the spring and talking to the NPC there?
When you talk to him, he should give you whichever god staff you chose. Then he will have some for sale. Make sure you're talking to the right NPC. Is the cape in your inventory? Maybe drop the cape and pray to a few different altars? Just trial and error, I guess. If that doesn't work, PM a mod.
