Currently the only way to subscribe on Ironman accounts is by using real world money to pay for them. I think it is great that Ironmen are able to subscribe and I would like to propose a change to make this available to ironmen through in game money. There are Ironmen accounts that would gladly subscribe if they could with in game wealth from their alternates or perhaps even their ironman wealth. These players represent an untapped market, which could add more demand for subscriptions.
Market Benefits
Increasing the demand for subscriptions would bring more real world money to the servers. This is due to the fact that subscriptions could be worth more in game wealth, making them a more attractive purchase for players to pay real world money and trade them in game.
Ideal implementation
Ideally this would be something that Ironmen are able to trade for. This system works just fine on the official game (both RS3 and Old School) without. In these games, Ironmen can trade and receive bonds to pay for membership. Essentially, ironman are able to receive bonds and send cash to pay for them. I can understand if enabling the trade for only subscriptions is difficult to implement. If so, please see my alternative plan.
Alternative Idea
The alternate idea would be to allow Ironmen to pick up a subscription item off the ground. This should be much easier to implement in the game. Simply enable the ability for Ironmen to pick up subscriptions dropped by other players.
This drop trade adds an element of risk, meaning that a regular player could spot an Ironman preparing to drop trade and snatch up the subscription themselves. I believe this is well worth the risk and the ironman. They would have to accept this risk before attempting to transfer. I believe this is a benefit for regular players and should be viewed as positive overall.
This is a opportunity to bring more real world donations to RSCR. This ultimately benefits all players! Please let me know what your thoughts are. Feel free to post other ways to implement this idea.
