Sheep herder quest glitch

Is the sheep herder quest glitched? I got the sheep into the pen and poisoned them.  It said they died but they didn't so I wasn't able to burn the remains. Now it says I've already disposed of the sheep and to try a different one.

do 1 of each sheep 1 1st 1 2nd 1 3rd 1 4th then burn the bones go back to guy ez

It won't let me re kill them though.  I tried going back and bringing them in but it says I already disposed of them
