Ditch the requirement to have COMPLETED Hero's Quest for Dragon Axe

I'm not saying ditch the quest or the requirements to wield it all together...

I'm just saying when someone has 50 mining, 53 fishing, 53 cooking, 25 herblaw, 55 quest points, and has also completed Shield of Arrav, Dragon Slayer, Merlins Crystal, and Lost City AND has STARTED the Hero's Quest...

They should then be allowed to wield the Dragon Axe.

I'm not trying to make anything easier. This doesn't give any advantage. We know damn well there isn't anything challenging about this quest. There isn't some KBD level monster that we have to kill. There isn't any kind of stringent requirements to complete this. There is no difficult puzzles or complicated things to do to complete this.

The only difficult thing about this quest is spending the time to find a member of the other gang to help you get the candlesticks.

Shield of Arrav is different because anyone can start it and complete it. I can create a couple level 3s and complete this quest in a half hour. I would be curious to know what % of the server is eligible to start Hero's quest, and of that the breakdown between Black Arm to Phoenix Gang member.

For the nostalgia freaks... I don't know if you recall since it was so long ago, but you did not have to wait weeks to find a partner for this quest back in the day.

Yes I've been looking in-game all day. Yes I've made a forum post. I am just not keen on waiting a week then asking Mod Billy to help.

Nevermind, don't ditch the requirements... but CHANGE THEM.

Honestly if they could just cut out the Phoenix/Black Arm gang part of Hero's, I'm fine with it. I just assumed it would be significantly more difficult to cut out a section of a quest as opposed to just changing requirements to wield a piece of gear. Or just let the person do both parts of the quest solo... anything is better than what it is now.

+1 that.

Im not sure how they could handle it, editing a whole quest would be terrible work. Maybe add a candle stick spawn right up to the part where you need to get the second person?

Sounds like a perfect solution to me...

  • Black Arm Gang - Place a single candlestick spawn in the room where you currently have to search the alcohol cupboard of Grip. Unique item, cannot have more than one in your inventory.
  • Phoenix Gang - Make it so when you talk to the cook in the nearby building he says something like "I found these keys in the grass outside." and they are the Miscellaneous Keys that the Black Arm Gang member trades you. Then place a single candlestick spawn in the tiny room you are supposed to range Grip from. Unique item, cannot have more than one in your inventory.

Make a second account. You could of had it done in the time you've waited. That's what I and many others did to avoid the hunt for a partner.

What I'm saying is what is the point in that? If you're going to argue that the quest should be left in the game because it will get the community to interact more with one another then you can't tell me to make another account and just do it all myself anyway. The answer to this entire game cannot just be "just multi-log".

We should just accept the fact that things are not the same as they were in 2002 when we all played this and servers were booming and recognize that things need to be changed so we can still have a similar experience without the frivolous nonsense associated with it.

The quest requirement is part of the right to weild the weapon, same with dragon long, rune plate, etc. That is your reward for suffering through the quests. If you don't want to do the quest pay someone to do it for you or find a different weapon. Some things in life are earned and waited for not handed to you... Hard lesson I know but it's the way life works.

Again... as stated above... this is an acceptable answer given the size of the community for when the quests were actually designed. Now these quests are not balanced towards the size of the community. NEVER did you have to wait weeks to find a partner. I've offered in chat to pay someone to help me. Nothing.

Never before were you able to advance so quickly to being ready for the quest either usually in the very long time it took to get that far you had at least one or two friends who were at a similar lvl to you and you would do the quest together. Be happy you were able to level so quickly and take the waiting time as the extra time you would have had to spend leveling your player.

Aaannddd 2 hours and 10 minutes after posting on forums he has found someone to do quest with, yet again showing patience is a virtue that is unfortunately sorely lacking in our modern world when it is much easier to complain and demand the world on a silver platter.

I call your argument null and void good sir.

What about the other people who spend several days/couple weeks looking for partners? I just happened to post in chat at the right time and happened to be off work and able to do it.

I was going to spam/yell/state No, but I think I may be swayed a little bit.

Ditch the requirement for 2 people, but keep all quests required in place would be my vote

Im not sure how they could handle it, editing a whole quest would be terrible work. Maybe add a candle stick spawn right up to the part where you need to get the second person?

Nice work on researching or remembering the exact locations where you need the 2nd person.

N0m, Fate, all mods who could forward this. This has been a problem for a long time, people selling the candlesticks for millions because there aren't thousands of players and quests like these depend on someone to be at the same point. It sucks for people who are creating their first main as well as anyone looking to create D axe pkers.
