The above mentioned methods are pretty solid. Killing chickens for feathers and later on men for herbs is decent money for starting out, and the combat experience gained will prove very beneficial in the long run!

Another way to make a good amount of money without high skill levels would be to buy runes, feathers and arrows from shops, as well as vials and eyes of newts from the herblaw store in Taverly.
The mini-quests around Lumbridge and Varrock also have some decent armour, weapon and experience rewards for starters.

Training fishing, woodcutting and mining might be slow when starting out, but getting those skill levels up is pretty useful if you're planning to complete quests later on, and at high levels they prove to be some of the best, consistent ways to make money.
