Well, the main point of this was to have an activity people could work together for, and involve a small area around them. I got the idea mainly from the FATE events in final fantasy 14, which had drops, exp drops, and involved either killing a group of monsters, a single boss monster, or escorting important npcs through several waves of monsters. The idea was mainly to make the world seem more alive with what looks like random events. I think it would work here to keep people from stalling on edgeville. The plus point would be that there could be a whole slew of new, event related items, either vanity or with stats, and maybe if an achievement or title system gets implemented, those could drop from said events as well. Said events could happen in the overworld as well as the wilderness and will likely increase traffic over REV in general.
