This may be more of a review for the game, but nonetheless...
I think this game is really nice but lately just haven't been motivated enough to keep playing. I wanted to put my ideas out there for improvements that could be made to keep me interested. Many requested features will take a lot of development time so I cant expect them all, but others are rather simple.
The first problem is the xp boost. Combat is fun. Skilling is often a chore (hence batching). This contradicts the reasoning behind boosting combat xp 8x but offering an abysmal 2x rate for skilling. It's really discouraging. It also means I'm going to spend less time in combat because the rates are so high. I would much prefer a flat 5x for all skills, but if they were going to be different, I'd do 8x for skilling and prayer then 2x for all combat. Then it would actually make sense because I'd spend more time doing fun things and less time doing the skills that feel less rewarding. Combat is fun because you can always get a rare drop. Skilling is less fun because you always know exactly what to expect. It's not about wanting to grind. In both cases I like to grind. Grinding combat is more rewarding because you never know the reward you'll get.
Second, the tick rate is too slow. Compare the rate to RSC Cabbage. They have a 30% speed boost when it comes to the rate the game goes and it's soooo much better that I cant go back.
Third, and this is a bit unfair I know, Revolution's missing many features that make long term play feel rewarding/motivating. I cannot help but compare to RSC poodles. They have achievement diaries with decent rewards which makes goal setting part of the game and really fun. They also now have a collection log. These features are extraordinary and I would love to see them implemented here for long term health of the game.
The great things going for Revolution are 1) the mini-skills which appear optional and dont significantly impact the game. 2) The client remembers login details 3) Batching (thank Guthix) 4) Ability to wield/equip without it taking up inventory space. poodles is still lacking on many of these fronts and it's worth nothing what Revolution does well.
